Succes stories
This year saw the Performing Arts Department grow from strength to strength with an increasing number of students having the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of events. Below are just a few of our highlights:
Gala Evening
This year’s Gala Evening included a range of vocal, instrumental and dance performances. Pupils from all year groups were represented and the Year 7 choir was particularly impressive. The department hopes that this opportunity to sing in front of a live audience will instil in these pupils a passion for performing in the future. There were some super collaborations produced by younger and older pupils, and we were pleased to see many of our most talented students leading groups and passing on their knowledge.
Fantastic Mr Fox
Our production of Charlie and the chocolate factory was a huge success. With many parts being taken by some of our younger pupils, it is exciting to see the talent that we have coming through the school. With music from the year 9 band it was a night to remember.
Open Mic Night
Open Mic Nights here at The Heathland have gone from strength to strength. This year we included a chance for our BTEC Musicians to have their very own platform to perform in preparation for their exams and they didn’t disappoint!
Trips and Visits
We have been a very busy department this year, travelling all over London to see as much theatre as we can. We were lucky enough to get tickets to see Life of Pi at Wyndham's Theatre as well as being able to take a cohort of year 7 to see Cinderella at the Richmond theatre. We also had the privilege to take our yr8 Heathland players who performed a rendition of King Lear at the start of the year to the Globe theatre.
