Community is at the heart of The Heathland School and we endeavour to support our local community wherever possible. We are fortunate to benefit from an excellent geographic location in the heart of South London, close to the City and a number of large industries and landmarks, including Heathrow Airport.
Our links with local industry further enhance students’ learning and provide extensive opportunities for students to visit a range of organisations and gain a wider interest in local industry.
Our specialist Mathematics and Science College status has enabled a number of informative visits to places of interest including; the Eden Project, the Darwin Centre, the Royal Institution, the Royal Societies of Chemistry and Medicine, and the Imperial College.
In our aim to create a sustainable community environment, we have constructed solar panels which are linked to the school’s ICT system in order for energy output to be monitored.
Our specialist status has also enabled us to support local primary schools, sharing best practice and resources. Students and staff from the Heathland Science and Mathematics departments regularly host INSET for Science and Mathematics co-ordinators from our partner primary schools and we provide level 6 teaching in English, Mathematics at a number of local primary schools.
